State of the tiger

It’s only been a really, really, REALLY long time since I’ve made any sort of post. A lot has happened to/for me this time around, and still have quite a bit coming up this month. And most all of it is good stuff, which makes everything better.
First off, job stuff. I quit BestBuy and went to work for a different international company, working on their machines. It was a positive move in all ways; better pay, more reliable hours, and a ton of benefits. And I work(ed) with one of my closest friends. I was really starting to hate working at BestBuy, as management changed and made changes for the worse. I stopped by there a few days ago, and saw almost no one that I knew working. I later ran across a previous co-worker in a game store, who told me everything that had happened. New management ended up driving off most of the good employees (who had been at that store for 3-6 years) to other stores or quitting for better jobs. The only ones left are looking for jobs at this point. It was sad to hear. Such is the life of a retail store, though. Makes me glad that I left when I did. I’ve got something far better now, and is far more marketable for other jobs in the future.
Probably one of the neatest things about my job is I actually get to go on business trips. Sure, it’s for training, but I never really expected to work for a company that would send me out places.
I’m moving into a new place next week. I’m excited for it. It’ll be my second move for the year, but it’s worth the hassle of packing everything up and dragging it to a new place. It’s on the other side of Denver, which puts me closer to the mountains. Hopefully the new place will encourage me to do more than sit around and do nothing.
Things are going excellent with my girlfriend. We’ve been together ~9 months already. I always want to be around her, even now. I love you, Blue!
I picked up a 3DS back in March. It’s what I’ve spent most of my time playing on; and mostly old games at that. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will finally be beat, I’m so close to the end. I’ve played through most of the original game boy games they’ve re-released (that are worth getting (again)). And I’ve got Netflix due to the 3DS, so now I can finally watch all the anime I’ve missed.
Let’s see if my next post will happen within 7 months…

I’ve got something good to post about!

I’ve got a new job! :D

About a week ago, my supervisor at work went on a write-up spree; writing up everyone he could, and threatening the rest. It takes a lot to set me off at work, but this was one instance where I was done with it. I hadn’t seen the supervisor in nearly a month, since our schedules are so mis-matched. What’s the first thing he does when he sees me? Tell me he’ll write me up if I don’t use this new selling strategy he made up.  I don’t tolerate threats of write-ups very well (I know they mean nothing, but I still don’t like it), so I immediately threw a resume to a company that a close friend works for.

I got an interview set up a few days later; It was the shortest interview I’ve ever had, but it was pretty fun. I made fun of one of the guys during it (“If you’re so good at Windows, then tell me this. Why does Windows suck?” “Because you don’t know how to use it.”).. I thought I had shot myself in the foot, but from what I heard afterward from my friend it actually helped me out.

Yesterday I got a call from the company; they offered me the job. I’ll be starting in early February. I’m excited for it; hopefully it’ll be better for me than the retail I’ve done for the past 3 years. I’ll enjoy the change of scenery too; fixing machines sounds like much more fun.

I told my current job that I’m quitting. I learned how much people actually liked me.. I always assumed I was just tolerated. I didn’t intend to tell anyone that I was leaving other than those who needed to know. Today I had three coworkers tell me how sad they were that I was leaving. I’ll miss most of them, but I know I’ll still shop there.

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever)
Day Seven: Four turn offs.
Day Eight: Three turn ons.
Day Nine: Two smileys that describe your life right now.
Day Ten: One confession.

·         Make me some food. You may not be able to get rid of me if you feed me.

·         Talk. I like to talk about things; but I really enjoy getting to listen to people talk.

·         Music. If you have some bands you like, share them. I like listening to all sorts of stuff, and hearing new ones is always fun.

·         Walks. Even if there’s no destination in mind, a walk is awesome.

·         Games. Play with me! It’s fun to play with other people, no matter what game.

·         Honesty. You don’t have to try to construct some persona, create a lie, or make things up to impress me. I like knowing you the way you are.

·         Humor. Amuse me; make me smile, even laugh. Don’t be serious all the time.

·         Curiosity. Always be willing to learn something new.

I.                    I’m bad at writing. Texts are forgetten, posts are left unfinished. I get scared off from online RPs when I see everyone has awesome writing skill, since I know I can’t write at their level.

II.                  Driving is probably one of my most favorite things to do. I like exploring everywhere I can. I just wish it was a bit cheaper to travel by car, and I’d be all over the place. Once I’m off the main roads, I find it relaxing.

III.                Music is awesome. I like to find new music to listen to all the time. My preferred style of music changes with the seasons; anywhere between ambient to heavy rock, folk to dubstep.

IV.                While I enjoy using technology, I can live without it. There’s plenty of stuff out in the world for me to do instead of poking an electronic gadget.

V.                  I’m quiet by nature. I much prefer to listen to everyone else talk; they’re far more interesting than I am. (As evidenced by tomorrow’s post.)

VI.                Helping people when I can makes me happy. If I can make someone’s day, I’ll do it.

VII.              I don’t actually know how to type traditionally. I just hunt-and-peck, though I do know where the keys are on the keyboard and can hit them without looking.

VIII.            Change is something I enjoy. Doing something different, trying something new, learning a new thing; all of it I like.

IX.                Animals seem to like me. I’ve had wild skunks, foxes, and dogs that hate people all come up to me and be friendly.

I said I wanted to do one of these.. And I was nudged to do this one. So here it is.

Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win your heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.

10. Stop complaining. I really have no interest in talking to you if you think you have the worst life ever.

9. You’ve actually become likable during the time I’ve worked with you.

8. Thank you. I appreciate the favor.

7. You’re not a manager. Stop pretending to be one.

6. Once I can consistently log on, we should play together.

5. Zoo trip. Soon.

4. You actually don’t need to know everything going on in my life.

3. You’re awesome. Thank you so much for the help.

2. Just be you. Don’t worry about what everyone else says.

1. I’m happiest when I’m with you. <3

First things first – I’m in a relationship! <3 I’ve known the girl for quite a while (over a year), but we’ve just recently started dating. I’m excited and happy about it.

I’m contemplating doing one of those 7/10/30 day memes. Might get me back into writing on here, though everywhere I have a presence online has had a lack of updates.

And I write much about nothing. )

Been playing Rock Band 3 a lot this past month. Made it through the forever long (8 hours!) endless setlist, thanks to Locke and Anya. Now I'm starting to learn how to play Pro Guitar, also thanks to Locke. If anyone has ever wanted to watch me fail out of songs, that's the instrument. So many buttons...

It's holiday time at work now. Just have to survive Friday, then everything is cake. Moving a ton (seriously, over 2,000 pounds) of gaming consoles is kind of fun; it's weird knowing that all of them will probably be sold this season too -- Doesn't nearly everyone have at least one current-gen console now?
Speaking of games.. So many of the games I've been looking forward to just had to come out within three weeks of each other. Great job, guys. I'll probably never get to them now. Ah well, not like I needed to play them.

This upcoming month is going to be awkward, since it's the first year my parents are apart. Just have to roll with it, I suppose.

Two months is long enough to make a post. >.> I've been reading everyone else's LJ; just haven't gotten around to posting or commenting.

Life has been steady; Not a whole lot of new stuff to mention. Work is work; Been working at Best Buy for 3 years now, doing the same old stuff. One day I'll find something better, but it's far better than no job.
Been doing a lot of photography while not posting onto LJ. Even got paid for a gig at a car-show/airshow! Other than that, I've been busy uploading the better shots onto my DeviantArt.

I picked up playing video games again; hadn't really done that in a few months. Rock Band 3 is excellent; I'm really loving getting to play keyboard. Pro mode guitar and Drums will have to wait until I pick up equipment that's capable of playing those modes. As for the setlist.. I like most of it. There's only one song I hate, for the same reason I hate "Eye of the Tiger" and "Yellow Submarine" -- "Me Enamora" by Juanes. I heard that song every hour for 8 months at work. I never want to hear it again.

..For two months of life, I figured this would be longer. Ah well.

It's been a week since the Rocky Mountain Furry Convention, and I haven't written or done anything about it. So, I shall write and eventually pictures will get posted at a later time.

It was a lot of fun, and ran a lot smoother than I thought it was going to. I met up with a lot of people I haven't seen in a year, since I didn't do many social events with furries since the last convention. I had to introduce myself to most of the people, since they last knew me with long hair and a beard. Saturday and Sunday saw me running around with my camera, pretending to be a photographer. I did a few food runs through the weekend, as I wasn't stuck behind a dealer's table.
I ended up getting two badges while at the con. A $1 badge by Kite, since I forgot my badges on Friday, followed by a badge for my character Noodles by Vantid. She draws amazing Red Pandas. :D

Broken down --
Friday: Attended Stand-In-Line Con for a while, until I was registered. I followed that up by sitting behind Laken's table for most of the day, as there wasn't a whole lot to do until that evening.Went to the dance that night, and decided that the following nights I needed to bring my camera.

Saturday: I spent the day finding things to do. Took many pictures, took even more video through the day. Went to Applebee's that night and played Rockband with Locke, Anya, Kyrene, Rasple, and Scribbles .Came back to the con and went to the dance, followed by playing cards by the light of glowsticks until 3:30 in the morning.

Sunday: More of the same. Running around, finding people, taking pictures. Not much else eventful to note here happened, other than I love my camera's ability to take video.

So, I need to go through the pictures, upload them, and play with the videos to see what I can do with them.

---

In an attempt to keep from losing contact with furries once again, I went to a furmeet last night. It was much fun, but I realized why people loved the Aurorafurs meet so much when it was around. Completely different atmosphere with a much broader range of people than other furmeets.
